Our Heritage
Our Story: From Honduran Highlands to Your Cup
Founded in the lush mountains of Honduras by Francisco Cruz, Cruz Caffe began as a passion project rooted in family tradition and deep respect for the land. Francisco, a dedicated farmer and operator, has cultivated coffee on the rich soils of Vallecillo, Francisco Morazán, at Cerro Los Altos for generations. Our family has walked these hills, understanding the delicate balance between nature and cultivation that produces truly exceptional coffee.
Inspired by generations of skilled Honduran coffee farmers, we honor their time-tested craft by sourcing only the finest Arabica beans from carefully selected high-altitude micro-lots. Each farm we partner with represents decades of accumulated wisdom, passed down through families who have dedicated their lives to perfecting the art of coffee cultivation.
Our journey reflects Honduras's remarkable rise as Central America's largest coffee producer, blending centuries-old heritage with modern craft roasting techniques. We've embraced innovation while never forgetting the traditional methods that make Honduran coffee truly special—creating a bridge between past and present in every cup.
Premium Origin
Why Honduran Coffee? The Perfect Climate & Rich Soil
Global Recognition
Honduras ranks among the top 10 coffee producers globally in 2024, celebrated worldwide for smooth, rich flavors with beautifully balanced acidity and complexity.
Exceptional Terroir
Our beans come from our specific farm in Vallecillo, Francisco Morazán, at Cerro Los Altos. This unique region is known for its nutrient-rich volcanic soil and ideal microclimates, fostering exceptional Arabica varieties. Along with other renowned areas like El Paraíso and Lempira, this terroir creates the perfect environment for Lempira, Bourbon, and Pacas beans.
Direct Partnerships
We partner directly with small-scale farmers, ensuring complete traceability, uncompromising quality standards, and fair prices that support sustainable livelihoods for entire communities.
Altitude Advantage
At Cerro Los Altos, our coffee thrives at elevations between 1,200-1,700 meters above sea level. These cooler temperatures at high altitudes slow cherry maturation, allowing the beans to develop a richer concentration of sugars and acids, resulting in deeper, more complex flavor profiles and exceptional aromatics.
Perfect Climate
Consistent rainfall, warm days, and cool nights in the Honduran highlands, especially around Francisco Morazán, create ideal growing conditions that Honduran coffee farmers have mastered over generations.
Heritage Varieties
We focus on heirloom Arabica varieties that have thrived in Honduras for over a century, preserving genetic diversity and exceptional taste.
